SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police have arrested a man who they say cut a woman's throat while in her home, leaving her in critical condition.
Eric Jones, 30, was arrested about 1 a.m. Friday morning near 130 S. 500 East. Jones was later booked into Salt Lake County Metro Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault.
On Feb. 6, police responded to 850 S. West Temple about 5 p.m. after receiving reports of a woman heavily bleeding. Police located the woman, who was then transported to the hospital in critical condition, according to a police statement.
The woman received emergency surgery and her condition was later updated to critical but stable, police said.
The woman told police that she had let the man inside her residence to shower and described him as homeless. The attack appears to be random, the statement said.
Further information regarding the woman's updated condition was not available.
