SCOFIELD, Carbon County — A man was killed in a rollover crash one mile west of Scofield Junction in Carbon County on Monday.

A Ford Escort was driving west on U.S. 6 near mile marker 215 about 3:45 p.m. Monday when it passed two other cars in the westbound emergency lane, according to a statement from the Utah Highway patrol.

The Ford lost control and crossed all westbound lanes and a center lane before crossing all eastbound lanes as well. The car went off the roadway entirely and began to roll, according to UHP. The Ford eventually stopped rolling near a fence.

The crash was a single-vehicle rollover with only one adult male occupant inside the car, UHP Sgt. Cameron Roden. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and he was ejected from the car, according to UHP. The man died at the scene.

Troopers on Monday said they had not yet been able to make a final identification of the driver.
