SPRINGVILLE — A man is in the hospital after crashing his vehicle, running from police and being found naked in a river up Hobble Creek Canyon on Friday, the Utah County Sheriff's Office said.
A 43-year-old Salem man crashed his car nine miles up the canyon after he fled from a Utah County sheriff's deputy, police said. Five deputies, including a K-9, tracked the man in deep snow for two hours, for nearly four miles, and eventually found him naked in a river, the sheriff's office said.
The man taken out of the river at around 6:30 p.m, and had "significant abrasions," severe hypothermia and had lost consciousness, police said. He was carried to an off-highway vehicle that took him to a medical helicopter.
Officials have not released the name of the man, and say that more details will come later.
