DELTA — A fundraiser has been started to help the family of a 10-year-old boy who died after falling through the ice into Gunnison Bend Reservoir.

The incident happened on Monday, according to a statement from the Millard County Sheriff's Office. The name of the boy has not been released by the sherif's office.

But according to family and friends on social media and a GoFundMe campaign* started to help pay for medical expenses, Brigg Leavitt was with his father when he fell through the ice. First aid was given on scene to the boy, who was then flown by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Hospital.

"Despite the best efforts of hospital staff … Brigg did not survive the night," according to the fundraising site.

Some of Brigg's organs, including his kidneys and a heart valve, were donated to help others.

"Brigg was described as a smart and funny child who loved drawing trucks, had a quiet giggle when he thought of something funny, and was generous beyond belief. On the last day of school and the day before the accident, Brigg spent all of the money he had brought for a class auction buying a tree for a little boy and toys for all of his classmates, keeping only a wooden truck for himself," the GoFundMe page states.

On Facebook, numerous messages of condolences were posted on the pages of Brigg's family members.

"There aren't any words that can fully convey how much you have been in my thoughts and prayers. My heart is breaking for you and your family. Please know you are loved so very much. My thoughts and prayers are sincerely with you," one woman posted.

"Just know we are thinking of you all and our prayers are with you. May God wrap his arms around you and your family at this tragic time," another woman wrote.

"I am so very sorry for your unimaginable loss. I can't even comprehend what you're going through but please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Sending so much love to you and your family," another stated.
