SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police are calling the death of a 43-year-old man "suspicious."
Officers were called to the area of 247 W. 1700 South on Monday about 9:40 p.m, according to a prepared statement from police. The officers were originally called to assist paramedics "on a medical call," according to the statement.
The man, whose identity was not released, died at the scene.
"When officers arrived on scene, they determined the death to be suspicious in nature," police stated.
Police have not said why they believe the death is suspicious and are not calling the man's death a homicide. Detectives from the homicide unit, however, were called out to the scene to assist in the investigation.
The statement does not indicate who called paramedics or what they found when they arrived. A possible cause of death was not released Tuesday or whether the man had visible injuries. An autopsy by the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death. Salt Lake police stated that they do not believe the case poses an outstanding risk to the community.
