ST. GEORGE — Criminal charges were filed Wednesday against a St. George man who police say was driving up to 33 mph faster than the posted speed limit when he crashed into another vehicle, killing two people.
William Allen Nunn, 49, is charged in 5th District Court with two counts of manslaughter, a second-degree felony.
On June 18, about 4:30 p.m., Nunn was driving with his wife on Bluff Street in St. George near the Sunset Corner Shopping Center at 1091 North when he collided with a vehicle that was coming out of the parking lot, according to charging documents.
The car coming out of the shopping center, driven by Spencer Kimball Moody, 67, of Enterprise, turned left onto Bluff Street when Nunn, who was traveling an estimated 65 to 78 mph in the 45 mph zone, "applied his brakes, then swerved into the side of Spencer, colliding in a T-bone style accident," the charges state.
Investigators determined Nunn's vehicle was traveling 60 mph when it impacted the second vehicle, which was moving at 18 mph, according to charging documents.
Moody and his wife, Janalee Gubler Moody, 67, were killed.
Nunn suffered "moderate" injuries, the charges say.
