BRISBANE — Imagine that you have a drain in the floor of your bathroom, but it keeps flooding.
A plumber comes and snakes the drain, but it turns out he's the wrong kind of snake handler to fix your problem. And that's because you live in Australia.
One wants to think that the tales of murderous nature in Australia are exaggerated to make children behave, not unlike the original (and bloody) German or Grimm's Fairy Tales. But the more you hear about venomous creatures, understand that kangaroos and emus can kick you to death, and see footage of swarming spiders or mice escaping in hordes from natural disasters, the more you know Australia isn't a fanciful cautionary tale.
In fact, you don't even have to live in the bush to be terrorized by the flora and fauna of the land Down Under.
So it's a wonder that the homeowners couldn't figure out why their drain wouldn't stop backing up without immediately thinking, "What sort of creature is down there causing a ruckus?" It wasn't until they saw a pair of gleaming eyes looking up at them that they knew what to do.
They called in snake catcher Bryce Locket.
This featured video shows Locket unclogging the drain by lifting out a 6.5-foot python, just living a casual and lush life in a drain — looking at you, watching you, and being a total creep.
It took Locket about 30 minutes to snake the snake out of the drain. But it came out peacefully and was graciously relocated to nearby bushland.
Everything turned out well, but it still makes one grateful that the only thing in your drain is hairballs and rogue soap chunks.
