SCOFIELD, Utah County — A truck driver died Tuesday afternoon when he fell under his truck after parking it and it rolled over him, according to authorities.

The incident took place just after noon Tuesday on U.S. Highway 6 near milepost 218, about two miles south of the state Route 96 turnoff, according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Nick Street.

The driver had parked on an incline, but the truck started to roll as he tried to get out of the truck, according to Street. The driver couldn't get back into the truck and fell underneath it, suffering fatal injuries.

He was identified Friday as 50-year-old Gary S. Hubbard, of Spanish Fork, according to UHP.

The 1995 Kenworth truck, which was hauling scrap metal, continued rolling south and crossed the highway, hitting a dirt embankment and coming to a stop.
