SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah Highway Patrol trooper received minor injuries when a vehicle drifted on I-15 and hit his patrol car Friday morning, the agency said.
Trooper Brandon Mortensen's car was parked on the shoulder of northbound I-15 near Riverdale about 6:30 a.m. when a Honda Civic drifted out of its lane and hit the patrol car, according to a UHP news release.
Mortensen was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries, then released.

He was checking for speeding drivers when his car was hit.
The Weber County Sheriff's Office and Roy Police Department are investigating the incident and looking into whether the male driver of the Honda was under the influence at the time of the crash. No information about him, including possible injuries, was immediately available.
