THE STAGE — The hills are once again alive with the sounds of music (sorry, I had to) with an unearthed gem first filmed in 1972.

First thing you need to know (if you don't already) is that the von Trapp family in "The Sound of Music" is real. The film was loosely based on the book by Austrian Naval Capt. Georg von Trapp's second wife, Maria, written in 1949, telling the story of the musical family escaping from Nazi-occupied Austria in 1938.

The family performed in musical tours soon after, and they eventually settled in Vermont in the early 1940s.

But it's to the early '70s we must go to watch Maria von Trapp school Maria von Trapp (Julie Andrews) with yodeling.

Maria's appearance took place on "The Julie Andrews Hour," a single-season variety show starring, well, Julie Andrews.

The pair have a funny exchange then Julie asks how she did in the movie.

"You were wonderful ... but …" Maria begins, and that's when the truth about Julie's yodeling comes out.

As a result of this slight critique, we get to see the real Maria von Trapp yodel — the REAL Maria von Trapp — and it's completely adorable.
