ELEMENTARY SCHOOL — Anytime the topic of substitute teachers comes up in conversation, I'm happy, because that's one of the topics for which I have endless anecdotes ... like the one who made my fifth-grade class wait outside the classroom after recess for her to come back to school from a Walmart run to buy "slacks" for her adult son.

Or the substitute teacher in first grade who waxed poetic about her childhood on a farm, with such fond memories as being pushed into a tub of pigs' blood? Many a nightmare my young classmates had after that.

Or when a fifth-grade substitute teacher mocked me in front of the class, saying, "Look at you, sitting on your hands." What can I say? They were cold.

Or when that same one wore full motorcycle gear, helmet and all, to class one day and just stood there quietly. When asked what she was doing, she said, "I'm showing you what scary people look like."

But I digress. Overall, substitute teachers are amazing people who sacrifice their time to relieve full-time teachers when needed. And the teacher in this video sure knows how to get a laugh out of the kids.

Has it been done before? Yes (think sketch comedy show "Key and Peele"). But it clearly made these kids' day, and they'll have a much happier, less traumatic story to share with their parents when they get home.

Do you have any memories of substitute teachers? Feel free to share them in the comments; we'd love to read them!
