TROPIC, Garfield County — The Garfield County Sheriff's Office Wednesday identified the Las Vegas man who died on Pioneer Day in an all-terrain vehicle accident north of Tropic Reservoir.

Esteban Gomez, 32, lost control of his ATV and crashed into a tree about 4:15 p.m. that day, the office said. He died at the scene.

A 32-year-old woman who was a passenger on the ATV was airlifted to Dixie Regional Medical Center in critical condition; the office said Wednesday she is expected to survive the accident.
