(KSL News) The tragic deaths of a rabbi and his wife at a Jewish Center in Mumbai are the reason behind a public memorial service this week at Salt Lake's Chabad Lubavitch.

The rabbi here says we simply cannot stand by and accept what has happened without responding. "I feel compelled, I feel obligated to do something that will allow us to contemplate and to meditate and to think about the general purpose of life," Rabbi Benny Zippel said.

A guest lecturer from Stanford University will address the topic "Where is God when it Hurts?" The memorial service will begin Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at 1760 South 1100 East in Salt Lake City.
