(KSL News) A man is behind bars tonight after police say rammed a stolen vehicle into an officer's car during a traffic stop. He then fled the scene.

Police say 20-year-old Sunny Timmothy Riojas was pulled over near 200 East and 8600 South in Sandy this afternoon for a minor traffic violation.

As the officer who initiated the stop was exiting his vehicle, Riojas shifted into reverse and rammed the officer's patrol car.

Riojas then fled the scene and ended up crashing into a utility pole near 400 East and 7700 South. His juvenile passenger was taken into custody, but Riojas fled on foot.

Police were able to track Riojas down with their K-9 Unit. He was arrested and faces charges of aggravated assault on an officer, vehicle fleeing and resisting arrest.
