ELDORADO, Texas (AP) -- A grand jury has issued eight new indictments against members of a polygamist sect.

Schleicher County Clerk Peggy Williams says four people were indicted, but she declined to give any more information until those indictments are served.

The indictments follow others against nine members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In those cases, eight of the members face charges of sexual assault of a child. A ninth faces charges of failing to report child abuse.

The grand jury has been hearing evidence since the summer after authorities raided a ranch in Eldorado looking for evidence of girls forced into underage marriages.
