Richard Piatt ReportingThousands of people and even more projects, volunteers had lots to do during the United Way's Day of Caring.

There were at least 96 organizations who volunteered more that 2600 volunteers. All of them took time off work to work. Whether it's raking, installing lights, painting, even heavier jobs, these volunteers are digging in to help do the kind of projects that need to be done but that might not get done otherwise.

For years there have been lots of appreciative people who are thankful for this Day of Caring. Each year, it seems there are more and more people willing to take time out of their normal routines to help.

Bryan Haygood, Volunteer, Wasatch Electric: "It's nice to give back, you can see the appreciation in people's demeanor and looks. It feels good to help out."

Kathy Wernli, Williams Northwest Pipeline: "It's great teamwork. I think people get to know each other a lot better. And we are in it to help others who need some extra help."

KSL's parent company, Bonneville International, is also heavily committed to the United Way and it's Day of Caring. That's why we had Bruce and Nadine Wimmer help kick the day off at the Gateway today.

Around the area there were 110 different projects going on---a lot of work done and a lot of people who appreciate it.
