After all the hub bub, it's over. The critics have already began to pick apart why McCain lost. The answer, in my opinion, was that this was not our year. Obama took virtually all of the swing states.
Although I have my doubts about Obama, I recognize that he has the potential for greatness. I will hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.
In Utah, things are shaping up pretty well. I posted last week that the three races to watch were Carleen Walker, Greg Curtis and Mark Crockett. As of 11:30 p.m., all three of them are losing. Any one of them could still pull out a victory, but it seems increasingly unlikely as the hours wear on.
It was fun to celebrate with my friends who won tonight. Chaffetz will bring a lot of youth and energy to the Utah delegation. Bill Dew was a very gracious loser. He is a really nice guy (perhaps too nice for politics). Rob Bishop had a LOT of young people here tonight to cheer him on. So there were a few bright spots tonight. I am still hoping that the Republicans can hold on to 41 seats in the Senate.
