Family, friends celebrate 95-year-old couple’s birthdays and anniversary

2020 has brought many milestones with it — lots of them challenging — but in the midst of everything going on, there’s so much to be thankful for. Just ask one Sandy couple who’s family and friends came together to celebrate their 95th birthdays and 74th wedding anniversary. They say time flies and to celebrate just that. Four generations lined up to wish MaryLou and Jack Raymond of Sandy a happy 95th birthday and 74th wedding anniversary. The couple celebrated their anniversary on June 2, and their birthdays are July 12 and 16. “We decided we would combine them all in the COVID area, because we didn’t know which ones we would be able to celebrate, so we decided to celebrate all together with a nice car parade,” said Cindy Raymond-Bailey. — Garna Mejia, KSL TV

'Maskne': Why your face is breaking out under your mask and how to stop it

If you're serious about protecting yourself — and others — from the very real dangers of Covid-19, you're wearing a mask when you go out around others. For many people that is leading to an embarrassing and unpleasant side effect: blemishes, pimples, zits — or what dermatologists call acne. "I have patients calling in despair saying 'What is going on? I've never had a breakout before and now my face looks like a teenager's!'" said board-certified dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe, clinical assistant professor of dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center. "We're seeing lots of flares of acne, especially a type called perioral dermatitis, which tends to happen typically around the mouth and in the areas around the nose," said board-certified Dr. Seemal Desai, an assistant professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Breakouts that occur after wearing a mask have become so common that mask acne's been dubbed "maskne" on social media. — CNN

629 new COVID-19 cases, 3 new deaths announced Sunday

The Utah Department of Health announced 629 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths on Sunday. The new cases lift Utah's total confirmed case number to 29,484, with 1,824 total hospitalizations and 215 total deaths. On Saturday, the total was 28,855 total cases with 632 new infections and five reported deaths, down from Friday's record-breaking 867 new cases. There are currently 209 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 in Utah, up from 203 hospitalizations Saturday, per the Utah Department of Health. — Katie Workman, KSL.com

Florida reports largest, single-day increase in COVID cases, surpassing New York's worst day

Florida shattered the national record Sunday for the largest single-day increase in positive coronavirus cases in any state since the beginning of the pandemic, adding more than 15,000 cases as its daily average death toll continued to also rise. According to state Department of Health statistics, 15,299 people tested positive, for a total of 269,811 cases, and 45 deaths were recorded. California had the previous record of daily positive cases — 11,694, set on Wednesday. New York had 11,571 on April 15. The numbers come at the end of a grim, record-breaking week as Florida reported 514 fatalities — an average of 73 per day. Three weeks ago, the state was averaging 30 deaths per day. Since the pandemic began in March, 4,346 people have died in Florida of COVID-19, the state says. —Associated Press
