PROMONTORY, Box Elder County — The Box Elder County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious death after a Weber County man was found dead in a rural area Friday.

Joshua George Haven, 36, was found in the Salt Wells Flat area west of Promontory by a couple driving by, according to a news release from Box Elder Chief Deputy Dale Ward.

Deputies found the body "obviously deceased" and determined it had been there "for at least several days." An autopsy was performed on Saturday by the state medical examiner in Salt Lake City.

"This is an ongoing investigation and leads are being followed," Ward wrote. The death is "obviously being treated as suspicious," he said, "and no conclusions have been reached at this time as to cause or manner of death."
