MURRAY — A Murray woman injured in an officer-involved shooting was moved from a local hospital to the Salt Lake County Jail over the weekend.
Rhonda Lee St. Onge, 58, was booked Friday for investigation of four counts of assault on a police officer, aggravated assault and felony discharge of a firearm.
On March 5, Murray police officers and a worker from Adult Protective Services went to a unit at the Stillwater Apartments, 5560 S. Vine St., on a keep the peace call. As they were knocking on St. Onge’s door, “a single gunshot was fired from inside the apartment,” according to a police affidavit. “The round struck the upper right hand corner of the door frame.”
Backup officers were called to the scene and attempted to call the woman out of the apartment, according to the affidavit. They eventually opened the door.
“Immediately upon opening the door, Rhonda was observed with a gun in her hands with her arms fully extended out pointing it at three police officers at the doorway. An officer shot Rhonda, Rhonda was detained and transported to the hospital where she was treated for her wound,” the affidavit states.
“Rhonda fired at an officer and a civilian. Rhonda also pointed a gun at three officers before she was shot once. Also Rhonda has made several statements about wanting people/officers to euthanize her.”
West Valley police are investigating the officer-involved shooting portion of the case.
