WOODS CROSS — A man was arrested Wednesday after police say he ran into traffic and caused an accident, then made odd comments to officers.
About 6:15 a.m., a 28-year-old man “‘ran out like a deer’ in front of a car in Woods Cross near Redwood Road, causing the driver of the vehicle to swerve off the roadway, over a curb, through a tree coming to rest in a ditch,” according to a police booking affidavit.
Officers from North Salt Lake and Woods Cross found the man “running down the middle of the road ... causing vehicles to slow and swerve to avoid hitting him,” the affidavit states.
Police noted that the man was “out for a ‘run’ at approximately 6:15 a.m. with no coat, no hat, shorts, while the outside temperature was below 30 degrees.”
The man exhibited signs of drug use, according to the affidavit, and displayed “erratic behaviors and could not focus on one subject. He would ask questions about officers’ blood type, then change subjects to ‘karma,’ then ask what computer system officers were using, then make comments about Mother Nature being angry with humans.”
The man was booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of several infractions and misdemeanors including intoxication, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
