THE KITCHEN — No matter how you pop corn — from microwave to air popper — it’s an oddly soothing practice.

The gentle rhythm of the pops, the transformation of the corn, the anticipation of a snack — it’s all the good things you could ask for in a short, positive life experience.

Believe it or not, this video will take that perfect 10 experience and turn it up to 11, and you have a filmmaker from Switzerland to thank for it.

Vimeo user Crictor posted the video earlier this week, and the concept is simple — pop corn with a blowtorch and catch it the the air stream of a blowdryer. But the setup is necessarily more precise and certainly a "do not try this at home" situation.

You may think that popping a single kernel of corn would be the most boring popcorn experience, but in reality it may be the most mesmerizing 15 seconds of your week. From start to finish, the video holds an artistic grace that’s hard to ignore. In fact, you may find yourself playing it over and over to completely take it in.

However, one has to wonder if this could be turned into a money-making venture. For example, if you add a little truffle oil, this could be the most artisan popcorn in the whole world, and it would probably cost at least $5 a kernel. (You’re welcome for the free idea, Crictor.)
