West Valley City is looking for help in dealing with a rash of foreclosures. Some government money could be on the way.
West Valley says it stands to lose more than $15 million in property tax revenue due to foreclosures. So, city leaders want a share of $19.6 million in federal money designated to help the problem.
West Valley says it would use the money to redevelop and create more affordable housing.
Already there have been 800 foreclosed homes in the city this year, and half are valued at less than $200,000.
