WEST VALLEY CITY — Police have made an arrest in connection with the stabbing death of a 19-year-old man, police said.
Salt Lake City police arrested Beni Vai Hautau, 19, for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle on Friday, according to a tweet from West Valley City police on Tuesday. The car in that case is believed to be the same vehicle that Hautau allegedly used to flee the scene of the crime, police said.
On Oct. 24, Treyvon Stephens was stabbed and killed about 8:15 p.m. near 4000 S. Redwood Road, according to police. Authorities believe he was stabbed in the parking lot of an apartment complex and then ran into a friend’s apartment.
Two men, who police believe Stephens knew, fled the stabbing scene, police said. The other man has not yet been identified.
Hautau was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of a variety of offenses in multiple cases, including investigation of murder, felony discharge of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, aggravated robbery, theft by receiving stolen property and possession or use of a controlled substance, according to jail records.
