WEST VALLEY CITY — Firefighters responded to double house fire Wednesday about 5:30 p.m. at 1537 West Russett Ave.
West Valley City Battalion Chief Jed Peters said investigators were working Wednesday evening to determine the cause of the flames.
Firefighters had extinguished the flames by Wednesday about 7 p.m., Peters said.
No one was injured in the fire, but one person was treated for smoke inhalation and released on the scene, he said.

The two homes were a total loss, and the Red Cross was on its way Wednesday evening to help the displaced occupants, Peters said. The fire displaced three adults from one home and two adults from the other.
In addition to the two homes, at least three trailers and four vehicles burned, Peters said.
At one point, power lines in the backyard of one of the homes energized a chain-link fence between the two homes, Peters said. Rocky Mountain Power was expected to fix the issue Wednesday evening.
Some neighbors reported someone was burning weeds in the area. Peters said officials were looking into that tip but hadn’t confirmed anything.
