SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police have identified a man who died Monday after a car fell off a lift at an auto parts business and crushed him.
West Valley City resident Trent Thatcher, 48, died in the accident at the Pick-n-Pull, 585 W. 3300 South, according to South Salt Lake Police executive officer Gary Keller. The accident took place about 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Thatcher and his 18-year-old son were at the auto salvage yard trying to remove a transmission from a car when the accident took place, Keller said. Thatcher was extricated and taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
Keller initially reported that Thatcher was 50 but on Tuesday clarified that he was 48.
Keller did not release any other information about Thatcher.
