ST. GEORGE — Abby and Bill Jergins were perusing a St. George Deseret Industries thrift store when they discovered three photo albums full of personal photos of someone’s family and friends.

“We like to patronize the DI to support them, and we also collect photos of our grandchildren and children and put them into photo albums when we can,” Bill Jergins told KSL.com. “I ran across the photo albums while I was there, and we thought they’d be good.”

There were three photo albums, which all looked brand new, in a box. Not realizing they were full of photos, the Jergins took them home with the intent to use them to hold photos of their own family. Instead, upon opening them, they discovered a plethora of old photographs.

“I think there may be someone out there who would treasure these, and I’d hate to throw them away just because they don’t mean anything to us,” Abby Jergins said.

There were two names on the photos, one with the name “Stanley Blaxham” on a very old picture depicting Post Library, which Bill Jergins believes used to be in Murray. Another photo of three young kids appeared to have the name “Lynda” inscribed on the back.

“There’s a wedding photo that has one of the cutest brides I’ve ever seen,” Abby Jergins added. “She was obviously married in the 70s — and so were we, for crying out loud. There are some really cute pictures there. Most of them look like family get-togethers, memories, special occasions, birthdays … fun times.”

The Jergins aren’t sure if the photos belong to someone in St. George, where they found them, or if the owners are located elsewhere in Utah. One way or another, they hope they can find their home.

“Photos are this sacred thing in our family,” Bill Jergins said. “We like to collect them and save them so our kids can have them 50 years from now to look at them.”
