EAST CANYON STATE PARK — Police have identified the 25-year-old man who apparently drowned in the East Canyon Reservoir, Utah State Parks officials said Monday morning.

Shervin Rayeneh was boating at the reservoir with friends and family Sunday afternoon when he jumped off the boat without a life vest and struggled to get back on before going under.

Rayeneh's family and other boaters looked for the man before they called 911. Search and rescue crews looked for him on land, in the water, and from the air with a helicopter and drones.

The man's body was eventually found 150 feet under water just after 10 p.m. Sunday, according to Utah State Parks and Recreation Lt. Eric Stucki.
