EAST CANYON STATE PARK — Search and rescue teams are continuing their search for a 25-year-old man who may have drowned in the East Canyon Reservoir.

Officials said his family reported that he jumped off the boat without a life vest. He struggled to get back on the boat and then went under.

According to Utah Parks and Recreation Lt. Eric Stucki, the family and other boaters in the area looked for the man before they called 911.

Search and rescue looked on land, dive teams searched as deep as 150 feet in the reservoir, and a helicopter and drones covered the area.

"Mostly the challenges we're going to face with the divers is the cold water, the runoff has come in," said Stucki. "There is some debris in the water as well with the runoff."

Officials say they have concluded the search for the night. They are refocusing in the area where the initial call was made and will continue the search Monday morning.

Further information was not immediately available.
