STREAM TOWN — It seems like the rain has finally stopped and that summer is just around the corner. It might be a good time to get outside and enjoy the weather — or it could be a good time to stay inside and enjoy the air conditioning and some solid streaming titles.

June has some really great offerings, including some incredible animated family films, nostalgic blockbusters and quirky comedies.

Here are the seven best new streaming titles this month:

Netflix

“The Grinch” (Available now)

Netflix has a lot of new titles this month, but the best ones happen to be animated family flicks.

The first one is 2018’s “The Grinch.” I know it’s not Christmas time and this may seem out of place, but I know my kids love this movie. They don’t care how warm it is outside, they want to watch it.

Some audiences and critics felt this film wasn’t necessary, and that filmmakers should have just left the original TV version alone, but I disagree. “The Grinch” isn’t a perfect animated feature, but it is funny, full of heart and made both my kids and me laugh. I can’t ask for much more.

“Ralph Breaks the Internet (Available now)

I absolutely loved “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” and saw it twice in the theater.

It’s a fantastic choice for a family movie night because both parents and kids will find this movie hilarious and fun. The song about Slaughter Race alone is worth watching the movie, but thankfully there are lots of other great parts in it as well.

“Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse” (Available June 26)

My last pick for Netflix is another animated flick, but it also just happened to be my favorite movie of 2018.

“Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse” is one of the best movies I’ve seen in some time, and now you get to watch it whenever you want.

I know a lot of people were feeling Spider-Man fatigue, and I get it. But if you haven’t seen the film please do yourself a favor and watch it — you won’t be disappointed. The film is brilliant in so many different ways, and it's different from anything you’ve ever seen before.

If you ignore the rest of this list that’s fine, because this is the best movie on here.

Review: ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ will make you forget all the other Spider-Man movies

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” is a late entry to the list of 2018 films and it’s one of my favorites. The film is fun, cool, original and just plain old good.

“The Devil Wears Prada” (Available now)

I have to admit I had never seen “The Devil Wears Prada” until last year, when my wife finally convinced me to watch it. It just wasn’t something that was high on my list to watch. Now that I have seen it, it’s a total guilty pleasure.

The film is so well-acted, with a great amount of humor and the right amount of sentiment to make it fun, engaging and not too sappy. Maybe rom-coms aren’t your thing, but I think this one may be more up your alley than you think.

“Independence Day” (Available now)

The '90s were all about big-budget event films, and the grandaddy of them all was “Independence Day.”

The film is totally absurd, has so many intersecting storylines, and is little more than a really expensive B-movie for much of the run time — and all of those things make it so fantastic.

You don’t watch “Independence Day” to get amazing cinema, you watch it so you can crank up your surround sound and watch cities explode and Will Smith punch some aliens.

Amazon Prime

“Mission: Impossible III” (Available June 30)

The "Mission: Impossible" franchise has become one of the best action franchises of all time. The movies seem to just keep getting better and better, and I personally can’t wait for the seventh and eight installments.

While the franchise hit a speed bump with “Mission: Impossible II,” it got back on track with “Mission: Impossible III." I think it’s an under-rated gem.

The third installment was the catalyst for all the sequels since, so I’m grateful to the film. It also just so happens to boast the best villain (Phillip Seymour Hoffman) of the entire franchise.

“Stranger Than Fiction” (June 30)

Audiences were split on the 2006 comedy-drama “Stranger Than Fiction,” but I was all in. The offbeat comedy stars Will Ferrell as an IRS auditor who finds out he is the lead character in a book and he can actually hear the narration in his head.

I think audiences were thrown off by selling the usually absurd and over-the-top Ferrell in a much more subdued role, which had some incredibly somber moments. But the comedic actor did a really great job in the role, and it made for one of my favorite Ferrell films.
