LAYTON — A 23-year-old man was critically injured after losing control of his motorcycle on I-15 Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened on southbound I-15 at Layton Parkway, according to a tweet from the Utah Highway Patrol.
The man, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, “suffered critical injuries” and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials said.
Officials believe the man may have been trying to pass a red passenger vehicle but instead “clipped the vehicle” and then lost control, according to UHP Cpl. Chris Bishop.
The driver of the red vehicle stayed on scene and is cooperating with authorities. Reckless driving on behalf of the motorcyclist is being looked into as a possible factor in the crash, Bishop said.
The southbound off-ramp at Layton Parkway was temporarily closed while officials investigated.
