PAGE, Ariz. (AP) — Police in the northern Arizona city of Page say they are investigating the death of a 6-year-old girl. Police say the child was unresponsive when brought to the hospital by her baby-sitter around 1 p.m. Saturday. Her name hasn't been released. Hospital staff called police, but the girl died before officers arrived on the scene. Police say there were no signs of trauma on the girl's body, but homicide has not been ruled out. The Coconino County Medical Examiner will determine how the child died.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A new state audit says law enforcement agencies in Utah need to do a better job of keeping track of the mountain of evidence they collect and store annually. The Utah State Auditor's Office announced its findings in a 19-page report. The review examined how seven unnamed local law enforcement agencies handle the evidence and other property they acquire. State Auditor John Dougall says the findings of the audit were meant to be a learning tool for all agencies.

OREM, Utah (AP) — Recycled graduation gowns worn by Utah Valley University graduates saved an estimated 70,000 plastic bottles from landfills this year. The Daily Herald reports that the gowns for the university in Orem came from Oak Hall Cap & Gown, which uses recycled plastic bottles to make regalia. The Virginia-based company says each of the recyclable gowns takes about 23 bottles to make. The university 40 miles south of Salt Lake City says this is the fifth year students have worn the gowns.

OREM, Utah (AP) — The Utah Republican Party has a new chairman. Former state legislator Derek Brown on Saturday easily defeated three other candidates in the race to succeed Rob Anderson, who did not seek-re-election to the post he won in 2017.
