NEPHI — A man died after he lost control of the truck he was driving on I-15 Thursday afternoon, authorities say.

The crash took place about 12:18 p.m. on the freeway, just north of Nephi, according to a news release from Utah Highway Patrol.

The man was driving north on I-15 in a pickup truck, which was pulling a camper and a Toyota Camry, UHP officials said. The trailer was loaded with belongings, as well as a motorcycle, officials said.

Due to the heavy load and the speed at which it was traveling, the truck started to sway and then went off the road, according to the news release. The truck went off the right side of the road and then into the median.

Photos released by UHP show the truck came to rest upside down in the median.

The male driver of the truck suffered head and neck injuries and died after the crash, officials said. A female passenger was taken to Central Valley Medical Center in stable condition and did not have life-threatening injuries, officials said.

UHP did not identify either person involved in the crash. Both were wearing seat belts, officials said.
