KANAB — A woman died Wednesday when she was hit by a truck while walking in a crosswalk with her husband, troopers said.

About 6:50 p.m., the couple was crossing at the intersection of U.S. 89 and U.S. 89A when a westbound truck turned south onto U.S. 89A and "failed to see the pedestrians in the crosswalk due to the sun being in his eyes," the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

The man jumped out of the truck's path, troopers said, but the truck hit the woman.

She was taken to Kanab Hospital where she died.

Additional information, including the woman's name and age, was not immediately available.
