ROY — An 81-year-old with dementia was found in Huntsville on Tuesday after disappearing from Roy nearly 24 hours earlier, officials said.

Ronald Canter was last seen at his home in Roy between noon and 1 p.m. Monday. Police believe he may have been driving a car when he went missing.

He was found in Huntsville — a town about 25 miles away — by a "citizen," said Roy Police Department Sgt. Matthew Gwynn. The citizen drove Canter to the Ogden Police Department, and officials notified his family, Gwynn said.

Canter was "located in good health and is in the process of being reunited with family," the Roy Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Police are unsure how Canter arrived in Huntsville or where he stayed overnight.
