CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — School board officials say they will take their time considering removing the "Redmen" mascot name from a Utah high school. The Spectrum reports Iron County School Board President Stephen Allen says the board will not take an immediate vote on the issue surrounding the mascot at Cedar High School. A proposal to remove the name went before the board on Tuesday. The mascot, considered by many to be a racial slur, has been under fire as some community members demand a change.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The battle over a proposed development in an upscale Salt Lake City suburb could affect residents' power to challenge zoning decisions on the ballot amid fears of an affordable housing crisis. The Deseret News reports a recently filed bill would make technical changes to state law, but Utah's business community might push for broader changes that could affect what decisions are eligible for the ballot.

PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney's has premiered his latest documentary the fraudulent tech startup Theranos at the Sundance Film Festival Thursday night. "The Inventor: Out for Blood In Silicon Valley" is among a handful of films that kicked off the annual independent festival. It looks at the rise and fall of the blood-testing company and its founder Elizabeth Holmes.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah Gov. Gary Herbert said people who want to change their gender on public documents should have a process to do it. His comment Thursday runs counter to a lawmaker's proposal that would block transgender and others from making such changes. It's among the hot-button issues that await the Legislature when it convenes
