SALT LAKE CITY — Police Wednesday released the name of a 26-year-old woman who was fatally stabbed at a South Salt Lake apartment.

Ashley Vigil from Salt Lake City was found dead with a stab wound to the neck at the Eight20 Apartments, 820 W. Timbercreek Way (about 4000 South) Tuesday morning, according to South Salt Lake detective Gary Keller.

Vigil's boyfriend, Angelo Terry Kirstine, 24, was arrested and booked into Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of murder, according to jail records.

Kirstine's grandfather found Vigil dead in the apartment. Earlier Tuesday, Kirstine had requested a ride to a relative’s home from the apartment, according to a police affidavit. He then asked to go the University of Utah Hospital where he told staff he had hurt someone.

The university called police and Kirstine was taken into custody, Keller said.
