MURRAY — A 59-year-old woman crossing the street was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident in Murray Friday evening, officials said.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m., a woman was crossing southbound at a crosswalk at 1300 E. and Vine St., with the green light in the crosswalk, said Murray City Police Sgt. Jason Coons. A vehicle traveling southbound also had the green light, went to turn eastbound and did not see the woman in the crosswalk, striking her, Coons said.

"The vehicle, it is believed, then continued to go eastbound from that location," Coons added.

The woman sustained a serious arm injury and some other injuries to her upper body, Coons said. Police transported her to a hospital where she is in fair condition, he said.

The victim described the vehicle as a white passenger car driven by a man, Coons said. Police believe the car likely has front-end damage.

No other witnesses on scene saw the incident, Coons said, and asked that anyone with information give Murray City Police Department a call on their dispatch line at 801-264-2673.
