TICABOO, Garfield County — Two decades after a woman was found shot to death on the side of a road in southern Utah, investigators have identified the body, officials said Wednesday.

The woman was identified as Lina Reyes-Geddes, of Ohio, Garfield County sheriff’s officials said in a Facebook post Wednesday. Her body was found in a sleeping bag with a gunshot wound to the head off the side of a road near Ticaboo in southeast Garfield County in 1998, officials said.

Utah State Bureau of Investigations officials were able to identify Reyes-Geddes, Garfield County officials said.

“The Garfield County Sheriff's Office is very grateful to give our victim a name and peace to her family,” officials said in the Facebook post.

Editor's note: The name stated by Garfield County officials was Lena. This article has been corrected to state the correct spelling of Lina.
