MUSICLAND — If you've ever wanted to be in a band but couldn't find anyone to join you, this guy has a solution: Just build yourself some robot bandmates.
In this video from Great Big Story, we get to know Kolja Kugler, an artist who lives in Germany. Kugler is known for making robot sculptures out of scrap metal. But Kugler isn't building your average robots. No, his robots make up a punk band.
The One Love Machine Band is comprised entirely of robots built by Kugler. The robots play bass guitar, drums and flute, and according to Kugler, "they've got an affinity for punk rock."

Kugler explains how he got into building robot sculptures and how when it came time to build his musical robots, first he put together the robots, then he gave them personalities.
"When I build a band member, I start obviously with the music making parts: the fingers, plugging or playing, and then I build the character behind it," Kugler says in the video. "The special thing about my robots is that they do actually play the music themselves."
The best part is that this isn't just a hobby for Kugler — it's about a lot more than that. The robots bring people joy, Kugler explains in the video, and it gives him joy to bring "new life to discarded objects," the video description says.
And what a creative way to do that. Kugler's robots are unique and fun, and probably better musicians than many of us. Maybe it's time they teamed up with this dancing robot. On second thought, maybe it's actually best we keep all the talented robots away from each other.
