WEST JORDAN — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two males who they believe were involved in a Thursday night shooting in West Jordan.

Officers responded to a call from St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City about 6 a.m. Friday after a young man with a gunshot wound was dropped off at the hospital, West Jordan Police Sgt. J.C. Holt said.
The victim of the shooting did not cooperate with police and initially told officers he was walking down State Street in Salt Lake when someone drove by and shot him in the arm, Holt said. After talking to the people who dropped the victim off at the hospital and reviewing surveillance footage, police were eventually able to determine that the shooting occurred in West Jordan.
Holt said detectives believe four males met up for a drug deal "gone wrong" late Thursday night at the Walgreens near 7800 S. Redwood Road. After “hanging out” inside the store for a while, the four went out to a pickup truck to exchange goods.
Police believe the two men buying the drugs then decided to take them without paying, angering the two sellers, one of whom pulled out a gun and shot the victim, Holt said. The two men then fled the area in a Chevy or GMC pickup truck that is gold or tan, police said.

“The two people on (the surveillance video) are the two at Walgreens,” Holt said. “We can’t really call them suspects because we have just limited info, but they’re definitely involved. We think that likely one of those is our shooter.”
The victim was shot in the back of the arm, and the bullet went through his bicep, “so no serious injuries,” Holt said.
“It’s kind of a mess of a case,” Holt said. “We really are just trying to get to the bottom of it and figure out who all the players are, who’s responsible and things like that.”
