SOUTH JORDAN — A bus bridge is in place Tuesday morning for TRAX riders in South Jordan after a pickup truck and TRAX train collided Monday night.
The pickup truck went through a red light about 8:30 p.m. and hit a northbound train near 10605 S. Grandville Avenue, according to UTA spokesman Carl Arky.
The collision derailed the train, which took out a pole that holds up the catenary wires, which supply power. The wires were ripped off as well, Arky said.
The train operator and one passenger were on the train at the time of the collision. They were not injured. The driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
A bus bridge will remain in place for the Red Line from the Daybreak Station to the 5600 West Old Bingham Highway Station. Repairs could take at least a couple of days to complete.
Due to the extent of the damage, crews will not be able to move the train until late Tuesday, Arky said.
Motorists should continue to avoid the area, he added.
The Blue Line and Green Line are not affected.
