SALT LAKE CITY — A 9-year-old girl died after being hit by a car in Salt Lake City Saturday morning, police confirmed.

The girl was in the road near 1465 W. 500 North about 10:30 a.m. when the car hit her, according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Justin Hudson.

The car's driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The driver apparently did not see the girl, Hudson said.

Police expect to remain at the scene for six to seven hours.
