DELTA, Millard County — Authorities have arrested a second man in connection with a home invasion last November where an 83-year-old woman was bound while robbers stole more than $200,000 worth of jewelry and precious stones.

James Duncombe, 32, was arrested Thursday in Salt Lake City, according to a Facebook post from Millard County Sheriff’s Department officials. He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and theft, officials said.

Adult Probation and Parole agents arrested Duncombe in Salt Lake City, officials said.

Chris Rowland, 37, was previously arrested in connection with the case in December, Millard County Sheriff's officials said. Rowland faces felony theft, aggravated burglary and aggravated assault charges, as well as a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance, according to documents filed in Fourth District Court in Millard County.

During the home invasion, two people entered the woman’s home, brandished guns and bound her with duct tape, according to an arrest report. They also put a pillowcase over the woman’s head.

The two individuals stole red beryl, emeralds and some other jewelry, valued at over $200,000, according to the report.

Authorities located some of the stones at a Salt Lake City shop on Dec. 29, 2017, the arrest report states. The daughter of the Delta homeowner confirmed to authorities that the stones had been stolen from her mother’s home, according to the report.

The person who brought the stones to the shop told authorities he had purchased them from Rowland. That led authorities to Rowland’s home, where he was later arrested.

Rowland’s white Ford Explorer matched the description of a car caught on surveillance video leaving the scene of the Delta robbery, according to the arrest report.
