PROVO (AP) — A Utah man received two concurrent sentences in prison — 25 years to life and 15 years to life — for sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl.
The Daily Herald reports Royce Schaefer, of American Fork, was sentenced Wednesday for sodomy on a child and aggravated sexual abuse of a child, both first-degree felonies.
Schaefer pleaded not guilty in July 2017, but a jury unanimously found him guilty of both counts in May after a four-day trial.
Court documents say the sexual abuse occurred while the 4-year-old girl was eating lunch on the sidewalk outside her American Fork apartment.
