WENDOVER, Tooele County — A 10-year-old boy died Wednesday while scuba diving at a lake near the Nevada state line, according to the Tooele County Sheriff's Office.

The boy had been scuba diving with his father at the 60-feet-deep Blue Lake in Tooele County, when he may have ascended too quickly, according to Tooele County Sheriff's Lt. Ron Johnson.

While the father was certified to scuba dive, Johnson said, the boy had not.

"They were about at 25 feet when the boy ascended quickly, up to the surface," Johnson said. "When he got out of the water, he started having some issues from possibly ascending too quickly."

Johnson said emergency personnel were unable to revive the boy.

Blue Lake is about 16 miles south of Wendover and about 9 acres in size.
