TAYLORSVILLE — Police say a driver ran a red light at 5400 South and Bangerter Highway early Saturday morning, causing a crash that critically injured three people.
It happened just before 2 a.m., according to Unified Police Sgt. Melodie Gray. She said the driver of a vehicle traveling west on 5400 South ran a red light and crashed into southbound vehicle on Bangerter.
Both people in the westbound vehicle were transported to the hospital in “extremely critical condition,” Gray said. One person in the southbound vehicle was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Names of those involved and updates on their conditions have not yet been made available.

The intersection of Bangerter and 5400 S. was closed in all directions for a time as emergency responders and investigators worked to clear it. Gray said it is not yet known what caused the driver of the westbound vehicle to run the red light.
