THE 80s — There’s something special about the first video games you play.
You know what I mean — it’s those first three or four games you played so obsessively that they somehow find permanent residence in your heart and psyche. You hear the music or see an image and WHAM, you’re thrown back to your childhood.
In the 80s, this meant games such as “Frogger,” “The Legend of Zelda,” and “Super Mario Bros.” They are so beloved, that us video game lovers are always drawn to the internet clips that pay homage to our old-school favorites.
That’s why this featured video is a true treat. It’s a real-life reenactment of the classic “Street Fighter” game series — more specifically, “Street Fighter II: The World Warrior.”
When the video starts, you’ll think: “This looks like a low-budget talent show, and I’m a little bit scared at two grown men in ‘Street Fighter’ costumes.” But once you hear and see the perfect sound effects and choreography the men use as they “fight,” you’ll be transported to all those good times in the arcade or on your first console.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy a few laughs as two adults battle it out as Ryu and E. Honda. “Round 1, Fight!”
