Downed power lines in Provo cause road closures, Midvale road reopens

MIDVALE — Multiple downed power lines closed 7200 South in Midvale at 150 West between I-15 and State Street on Friday afternoon, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

The road reopened around 4:20 p.m.

About 500 were without power in the Salt Lake area, according to Rocky Mountain Power.

A semitruck hauling equipment in Provo snagged a power line near 1040 South and 900 East Friday afternoon, causing four poles to break, according to Provo Power. As of 10 p.m., all power was restored except for "one customer which won't have power until the service is changed out," Provo City Power said.

There was extensive damage to the poles and underground wiring and transformers, Provo Power reported.
