BUTTERFIELD CANYON, Salt Lake County — Butterfield Canyon Road was temporarily closed in both directions after a semitrailer jackknifed on the 1-lane, dirt road.

The crash took place at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday. There were no injuries, Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke said.

North Tooele Fire District officials said via Facebook that the driver had been following his GPS directions. Though he was concerned about being eaten by mountain lions, the driver was able to laugh about it afterward, according to North Tooele Fire District.

A tow truck helped turn the truck around. Butterfield Canyon Road travels over the Oquirrh Mountains between Salt Lake County and Tooele.

As of 8 p.m., Butterfield Canyon Road had been reopened, according to Unified Police.
